METRO ETHERNET

Metro Ethernet (ME) provides one of the most economical ways to connect your locations at high speeds within the LATA.

This service offers speeds starting at 2 mbps and going all the way to Gigabit (1,000 mbps.) speeds.

Premium service comes with Service Level Assurances (SLA) to support Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees but you must subscribe to the web based reporting service to claim SLAs.

There are optional features Network (VLAN) stacking with port aggregation (Q-Forwarding) so you can connect to ME service of another customer of the same type of service.

APS - Automatic Protection Switching offers customers fully redundant, diverse fiber pathways from your serving CO to your premises, to provide mission critical service continuity.


Our Recommendation:

While ME comes in Basic, unless your traffic is not time sensitive, we don't recommend this level of service. There are no SLAs, and service is "best effort" only. Dedicated service may be used to connect locations that are not too far apart but this service does not have SLAs either.

We recommend Premium service which offers the best service, with more choices, at the best price. ACGI has sold more ME than any other agent (over 250 ME circuits sold).

100 Mbps. Dedicated, Fixed or Burstable to GigE

900 Mbps. Fixed

Gigabit Ethernet (GigE)  is only available as dedicated, point to point service and does not have SLAs.

How fast is fast?

Gigabit Ethernet service allows a BellSouth business customer to connect and transmit data at a rate 651 times faster than a 1.536Mbps T-1.
